US Billionaire John McEvoy Linked to Joint Takeover Bid for Sheffield Wednesday
American billionaire John McEvoy has been linked with a joint takeover bid for Sheffield Wednesday alongside the Storch family, as efforts continue to secure new ownership for the club.
Wednesday entered administration in October, creating major uncertainty both on and off the pitch. Current owner Dejphon Chansiri is expected to step aside as administrators seek new investors capable of stabilising the club after a period of financial turmoil.
Sources suggest the McEvoy–Storch consortium is considering a shared-ownership model similar to recent multi-investor takeovers at other clubs. Supporters believe such a structure could offer long-term stability by spreading financial responsibility and decision-making.
McEvoy, who has existing sports investments in the United States, is understood to have been made aware of the opportunity by Wednesday supporter Jon McClure. Administrators are expected to continue discussions before naming a preferred bidder.
