Radio Essentials is Sheffield and South Yorkshire’s newest local commercial radio station. We launched in February 2023 on the DAB+ Sheffcast multiplex and today we are proud to serve listeners across the whole region with local news, events, travel, great music and real community stories.
We are Sheffield-based, created and run by people who live and work in the city, and we exist to bring proper local radio back to Sheffield and South Yorkshire. Our focus is simple: local voices, local stories, local music heritage and content that reflects the communities we serve.
You can listen to Radio Essentials in several ways. We are available on DAB+ across Sheffield and South Yorkshire. You can also listen on Freeview Channel 277 by pressing the Blue button and searching for ITV West. On Sky Q boxes, you can find us in the Apps section by opening the RadioPlayer app and searching for Radio Essentials. We are also available on Alexa smart speakers, and you can download our dedicated apps from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Coming soon, you will also be able to listen to us on the Nation Player app.
