£415k charity funding transforms Sheffield mental health ward
Sheffield Hospitals Charity has funded the refurbishment of Maple Ward, a mental health ward at Sheffield Health Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, through a £415,000 grant.
Maple Ward provides assessment and treatment for people with a wide range of mental health needs and was closed in June 2024 to allow the refurbishment work to take place.
The upgraded ward includes autism-friendly bedrooms, silent alarm systems, quiet-closing doors, additional soundproofing, and new therapeutic spaces designed to support patient wellbeing.
The work forms part of the Trust’s wider programme to modernise all adult acute inpatient mental health areas across Sheffield.
