Fire near Meadowhall now out as investigation begins
Firefighters have been tackling a large warehouse fire on Meadowhall Road in Sheffield, close to the Meadowhall shopping centre.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that multiple fire engines were sent to the scene on Friday evening after a significant plume of smoke was seen across parts of the city. Residents in nearby areas were advised to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.
Emergency services confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the incident. The public was asked to avoid the area while crews worked to bring the fire under control.
Fire crews have since confirmed that the fire is now out, Meadowhall Road has reopened, and one fire engine remains on site carrying out damping-down operations. An investigation into the cause of the fire is expected to begin.
