Roots Allotment to Appeal After Green Belt Plans Refused in Ecclesfield
Private allotment company Roots Allotment has confirmed it will appeal after plans for a development on green belt land in Ecclesfield were refused by Sheffield City Council.
The proposal included a new access track, three shipping containers, a large tipi structure and several signs on a field off Main Road. Planning officers rejected the application, raising concerns about the impact on the openness and appearance of the green belt, potential traffic safety issues, and possible harm to biodiversity.
The decision comes as Sheffield City Council is consulting on wider development options across 14 green belt plots, which could accommodate up to 3,529 homes and business parks in future planning rounds.
Roots Allotment says it intends to challenge the refusal through the formal appeals process.
