Sheffield Forgemasters, a South Yorkshire engineering firm, has appointed Swiss specialist Presstrade Technologies GmbH to install the UK’s largest open-die forging press at its site. The 13,000-tonne press and 450-metre manipulator will be housed in a new Forge Building. The installation is part of the £1.3 billion recapitalisation programme for the company, which also includes a new 30,000m² machining hall and a new tool-change manipulator. The project is expected to begin in July 2027 and take 12 months.
