Major Music Moment for Sheffield as DJ AG Brings Global Live Stream to City Centre — Emerging Artists Invited to Apply

Sheffield is set for a major live music moment next week as internationally recognised DJ and live-stream pioneer DJ AG brings his legendary street broadcast to the heart of the city.

The live-streamed performance will take place outside Sheffield Town Hall on Friday 6 March, from 4pm to 8pm showcasing Sheffield’s world-famous grassroots music scene to a global online audience.

In partnership with WaterBear – The College of Music, the event is also opening up three exclusive “Apply to Play” performance slots for emerging Sheffield artists — offering a rare opportunity to perform live as part of the broadcast.

DJ AG’s streams have previously featured major names including Ed Sheeran, Will Smith, Stormzy, Aitch and JME, and have helped launch and accelerate the careers of new talent across the UK.

The wider lineup will include:

  • WaterBear student performers
  • Artists from Slambarz CIC
  • Special appearances from Sheffield music legends
  • Some of the city’s leading urban artists

How local artists can apply

Sheffield-based performers are invited to submit:

  • Artist name and short bio (max 100 words)
  • Links to live performance footage (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook)
  • Contact email and phone number

Deadline: Midnight, Monday 2 March
A shortlist will be announced on Wednesday 4 March, followed by a public vote via WaterBear’s Instagram and TikTok channels.

Applicants must be available between 3pm and 8pm on Friday 6 March.
