Body Found at Arbourthorne Pond in Search for Missing Sheffield Woman
Police have confirmed that the body of a missing woman has been found at Arbourthorne Pond in Sheffield.
Emergency services were called to the area just after 12.20pm on Sunday, where responders were seen cutting through ice on the frozen pond to recover a body.
In a statement released this evening, South Yorkshire Police confirmed that officers searching for missing 60-year-old woman Eileen sadly found a body at the scene. While formal identification has not yet taken place, police believe the body to be Eileen. Her family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service said it attended the incident with an ambulance, a team leader and a critical care paramedic, but referred further enquiries to police.
The area was cordoned off for several hours while enquiries were carried out. Police have thanked members of the public who shared the earlier missing person appeal.
At this stage, the incident is not being treated as suspicious.
